The transparent cover of this mini was cut to 5 inches to match the pages, and the New Year’s Eve Gift line Word Garlands (#344959) were used as base pages for this album. I simply cut additional pages to fit at 5 inches as well.
Layering chipboard stickers under the photo was an easy way to add some pattern on top of the acid free and archival quality word garland page. On the right, I used stickers and stamps to list some fun goals for my daughter.
The left page has Vicki Boutin stamps that were die cut to cover the bottom portion of the photo. I used the same paper from the right hand side and stamped in each different color stripe to create the rainbow of flower die cuts. On the right, I machine stitched in different colors of thread to match the patterned paper, and adhered coordinating embellishments and stamps again.
The left page has computer journaling, and some chipboard embellishments stitched on top of the word garland page from the New Year's Eve Gift line. I hand painted the flowers on the right using the Vicki Boutin Art Crayons as a watercolor medium. the Gold Glaze from her line was used to accent the painting. I stitched in blush colored thread in a zigzag pattern down the border of the photo.
The left page has stars die cut from the napkins in the party line, and stitched down the center. I like that they resemble tissue paper and you can fluff them up for more dimension. I hand-stitched some stars and added punched and wood veneer stars too. The left side has a large photo with a blush colored zig zag stitch again.
I created this left page by stitching two vellum star papers back to back. The pocket between the pages holds more wallet size photos. I stamped and heat embossed the Vicki Boutin butterfly stamp, and hand cut them out to use as die cuts for both sides of the pages. The Vicki Boutin Mixed Media paper is amazing! I used her Art Crayons to watercolor the right page and it is completely flat even after watercoloring. I love that this heavy weight paper can stand alone as an album page.
The Vicki Boutin mandala stamp was heat embossed and then watercolored to create a hanging ornament feature on the left side. I adhered another one on the right side to tie the two pages together. The left page is another of the VB Mixed Media papers, and it holds up really well to the paste, watercolor, and anything you want to add to it! It always flattened out for me, after letting it air dry. If you need to, you can run it through a heat laminating machine alone without a carrier sheet to flatten it out even more.
I used the Vicki Boutin stencils and the Iridescent Glaze to create the left side and covered the right Word Garland page with a full size photo. A quick Paige Evans chipboard sticker stitched to the center of the left side keeps the focus on the photo and the beautiful glaze effect.
The back cover is a transparency from the Paige Evans Oh My Heart line and works well as a cover for this mini album. I hope you enjoyed this mini album, and try out the new mixed media supplies from Vicki Boutin along with the New Year's Eve Party Line.
