Hello, it’s Lucile! I am so excited about today's post! Using Vicki Boutin collections, I created this lovely mixed media layout. I whipped out my mixed media folder and got to work. It was a lot of fun creating this particular layout. I found it very relaxing!
Before starting, I had a pretty clear idea of how I wanted it to turn out. With mixed media, sometimes we can't really control everything as well, and we sometimes end up with pleasant surprises! What I like the most about this layout- it is full of colors, textures, and patterns.
Using my Vicki Boutin paints, I picked out all the pink tones first. Then, I used the art wedge to spread the paint out. I absolutely love the effect it gives the paint! Next, I used several stencils with different colors to add fun textures to the layout. I also added paint stains with a flat brush. Finally I put paint drops with one of the new watercolor brushes to top it all off.
Once the paint dried, I added my photos in the center of the page. This was the first time I've ever made a mixed media page with photos. Usually, I stick to art journaling. With my typewriter, I typed my journaling and stuck it to the page. I also added the "love" sticker under my photo and a variety of heart-shaped stickers.
Then I cut butterflies of different sizes from Vicki Boutin's "Color Kaleidoscope" collection. I folded them in half and placed them diagonally on my page. I sewed my butterflies with white thread, forming lines and curves as if to show their trajectory.
I really enjoyed making this mixed media layout. It was my first one, and I think I'll definitely be creating more in the future. It was so relaxing for me! I hope you love this layout as much as I do. See you soon!
