How to Create a Mini Album using Homemade Envelopes

Mini album with Picnic in the Park 300120-01

Hello everyone, it's Terhi here wishing you a happy year of 2020!

It’s my first time here at American Crafts blog after the year changed and I couldn’t be more excited. Not only am I bringing you a super thick mini album, but I’m also inspiring you with Picnic in the Park line designed by Amy Tangerine.

Picnic in the Park is just as colorful and fun as all the collections from Amy. In addition, there are some awesome new products that have my full attention. I adore the envelope and paper bow stickers! The envelope stickers gave me the inspiration to create an envelope mini book. Without further thinking, I grabbed my WRMK Score Board and started creating different sized envelopes using patterned papers from the Picnic in the Park.

This set of small envelopes could be used as a set of cards, but as I had bunch of small polaroid pictures waiting for the right home. I thought this was a perfect excuse to use them. The largest envelopes are sized 2.5” x 3.5” and smallest ones are 1.5” x 2”. Large ones include the polaroid pictures and smaller ones have journaling cards inside.

I chose the papers called Whole Lotta Love, Photo Shoot, and Blossom Bouquet. With these papers, I fussy cut flowers, cameras and hearts to layer together as an embellishment clusters for the envelopes. Some of these clusters have a paper bow or a sticker on top, too.

On one side of each envelope is the cluster mentioned earlier, and the other is either empty or I’ve added a smaller envelope sticker there. You can imagine how fun this little album would be to flip through with all the pockets and tabs I've created.

A large metal ring is keeping the envelopes together. I cut out small holes for the metal ring and used eyelets to make them stronger and prettier. Eyelets make yet another pretty detail on this mini album.

Usually mini books and albums have a cover, but my envelopes are thick enough alone that an extra sheet would have been too much. Therefore, I completely skipped all the ideas of writing a title and instead added cheering words on top some of the embellishment clusters.
