Hello friends! Easter is such a wonderful time of year to decorate! From bunnies to flowers and greenery, my house is usually decked out in décor. To prepare for our Easter lunch, however, I wanted to make a few special pieces to adorn the children’s table in our home—a few easy pieces that would make the kids feel extra special, and that was easy to do with only a few supplies the Stay Colorful collection!
Using a handful of pieces from the Stay Colorful collection, I created a bunny hat, carrot treat cones and a floral centerpiece for our Easter celebration. These each took only minutes to create, and are primarily created with patterned paper, something all of us scrapbookers have on hand! I know that my daughter and goddaughters will love them on Easter afternoon.
First, I created the bunny hat. By using patterned paper, I added more color to the design and a bit of pattern, too. Tone-on-tone patterns work best for this application, so that you can easily see the eyes, nose and mouth on the bunny. I used a simple party hat digital cut file to cut the Farrah Forever patterned paper hat. Next, I hand cut two teardrop-shaped ears from the fuscia cardstock included in the variety pack, cut two slits with a craft knife on the back of the hat, and slid the ears in, adhering them, on the inside. I cut two ¾” oval eyes from black cardstock, a pink triangle nose and 1/8” strips of white cardstock for whiskers, adhering each of them on the front of the hat. A black marker was all I needed to draw the mouth and complete the bunny’s face. Besides paper, white elastic cord can be added to keep the hat on the head of your favorite little bunny.
This beautiful centerpiece may be my favorite décor piece, and is beautiful enough to grace the adult table on Easter day! I grabbed an empty, clean 15 oz. can from my recycling bin and covered it with the Funkadelic patterned paper to begin. Next, I added pink satin ribbon to the top of the can, to finish off the top edge and adhered the butterfly resin glitter sticker to the center. Next, I added a floral foam cylinder to the inside of the can, and stuck three faux grass floral picks inside.
To add even more color to my greenery, I die-cut flowers from the b-sides of the Funkadelic, Radical and Mood Ring papers in different sizes, layering them and adhering them together. I topped them with small circle butterflies and flowers from the Stay Colorful washi tape book and puffy stickers. I taped green floral wire to the back of my paper flowers and stuck them inside the floral foam in my colorful vase. A series of three of these would be so lovely as a dining or entry table centerpiece!
I also wanted to add a fun favor to each child’s place setting. Using the same party hat digital die cut file that I used for the bunny hat, I simply tightened the “cone” before adhering to make it smaller. You can then fill with a favorite candy treat before topping with tulle or basket filler, and place one at each place setting.
I hope that you’ve been inspired to create some easy and fun Easter party pieces using the Stay Colorful collection. Happy Easter!
