Hello friends! I have a 12×12 layout using the new Field Notes collection to share for this week of favorite techniques. One of my favorite techniques is to use stamp and die sets on my pages. I love that they give you the freedom to coordinate with your paper, or go freestyle and create a whole new concept. I love that they are a versatile tool. The Vicki Boutin Stamp and Die sets are a go-to for me, and I use them on a lot of my pages!
I was inspired by the gardens at the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip, and loved the hanging paper lanterns on display. I used the Vicki Boutin “Choose To Shine” Stamp and Die Set to create each flower for this garland. I stamped the matching flower on a few of each color strand except the pink row. For that row, I used the die to cut out the flower from the pink "Wander Always” pattern.
There are so many ways to use stamp and die sets that I love to collect them all. Vicki Boutin Stamp and Die Sets are very economical, and she has several to coordinate with each paper collection. I love that her sets include the storage pouch, and that they hold the stamps and dies together in a clear package, because I am reminded to use them when I can see the dies on the front of the package with the stamps!
Here, you can see the floral garland, and the splatters underneath each row, I used the Vicki Boutin Art Crayons to splatter a row of each color near the garland. I chose this way to soften the line between the rows of garland and the White Foundations Art Paper. This 140lb. Paper can hold up under lots of water and mixed media, so give it a try!
It was fun to add embellishments to the flowers that weren’t stamped, and I used lots of the “Escape The Ordinary” Field Notes Thickers to embellish three or four of each color. I used the Watercolor Stickers to add more embellishment to the top of the flowerers , and painted them to coordinate with Art Crayons. I popped each row up on AC Foam Dots, to add some dimension to the layout.
The journaling is housed inside the flip up, since I had a lot to say. I included another 3×5 photo inside, and I love the fact that I could include everything about this story, without having to squeeze it onto the page, and this also kept the focus of the layout on the garland. The garland lead your eye directly to the photo snd flip because they are all cinched up underneath the photo. You can add as many loops and drapes as you like for your page!
Thanks you for visiting today, and I hope you get to create something new with your favorite technique, Leigh.
