DIY Notebook with Glitter Girl

Hiya! It’s Jamie and today I’m sharing a DIY Notebook I put together using Shimelle’s new Glitter Girl collection. I’m so in love with these products and the messages included. Call it a post-Wonder Woman high but I’m all about the ladies getting out there and pursuing their dreams. Which is why I thought this collection would be perfect for this project.

I’m a big proponent of writing out your goals and using habits to achieve them. I haven’t taken the time to do this this year and I found I was missing having them! To reference, look back on, see how far I’ve come, etc. etc. Nearly as soon as I saw this collection, I knew I wanted to use it to record these for 2017. It’s never too late to start!

I created this DIY notebook using a sheet of patterned paper, cardstock and a needle and thread. It was very straight forward. And then I had a total blast decorating the cover! I loved all of the words in the Embracing Chaos pattern. So with a pen, I outlined a few that I wanted to highlight, along with the words that were already pink for emphasis. Then I decided to get all mixed media on it! I added some gesso and then did a bit of watercoloring to add extra colors to the cover.

Once my mixed media was dry, I had so much fun pulling from the die cut pack and sticker sheet to add to the cover. I thought “You are capable of amazing things” and “dream big girl” were two appropriate phrases to add to this notebook! Once I had all of my flat elements adhered, I decided to cover the whole thing with clear contact paper just to give it more stability and to make sure that nothing was going to fall off. After the contact paper, I added an enamel and glitter star.

I created a title page using another of the awesome phrases: “Make your dreams real”. And I added a sticker of the cute girl that’s part of the collection. I can already tell I’m going to love pairing those woodgrain thinkers with the pink holographic letter stickers! This notebook has me so excited to commit my goals to paper and to start/continue working on them throughout the year!
