What better to document with lot of bling than a new engagement ring? Hello! It’s Meghann with you today, and I was recently so excited to receive the new Alphas and Bling collection. Although I’ve never been much of a “bling” girl, I know that there are certain occasions where it is called for, and I knew exactly what I wanted to document with these products: my little brother’s engagement photos—specifically the moment when he got down on one knee.
My initial inspiration for this layout came when I saw the rhinestone sheets—a continuous sheet of rhinestones on a self-adhesive backing. I realized that these would be perfect to back a digital cut file, so I found the “love” word in the Silhouette Design Store, and got to work cutting it from white cardstock. Once I had printed my journaling, placing it just below the die-cut word, I trimmed the edges of the cardstock by ¼” on all sides and backed it with the Pretty Words patterned paper from the All the Good Things collection. In between the two papers, I adhered the rhinestone sheet, which I trimmed to the size of the die-cut word. I adhered the white cardstock with dimensional adhesive to the patterned paper, to allow for the height of the rhinestones.
Above the “love” die-cut, the word “true” fit perfectly using the pink sparkle Thickers. This kicked off my color scheme, which I pulled from my sister-in-law’s dress in the photo—pink and teal. To the end of the “e” in the word “love” I added my own heart, using tiny rhinestones. I love how easy these are to form into any custom shape.
Since it was competing with my glamorous title, I wanted to frame my photo to make it stand out more on the page. I matted the 4” x 6” photo with a piece of the On a Positive Note paper, then gathered die-cut ephemera flowers and hearts, as well as an floral paper die-cut clip, from the All the Good Things collection. These added weight to the top of the page needed to balance my title below.
After my floral die-cuts were in place, I started to add adhesive rhinestone floating up from my title, surrounding the other elements on the page. I switched it up between pink, iridescent and silver rhinestones, in differing sizes. This helped to bring some of that sparkle to the top of the page, and create an ethereal feeling on the page.
The final addition to the layout was the special date and “the best part” stamped with the All the Good Things roller phrase stamp onto a black on-the-edge cardstock tab and added to the top left corner of my photo. I’m so happy to have this special moment documented, and the memory is made even more special with the beautiful Alpha and Bling products!
