Hiya! It’s Jamie and today I’m sharing a fun and easy teacher gift I put together using a few items from the dollar store and Dear Lizzy’s Lovely Day collection.
There’s just something about yellow pencils. They happen to be one of my favorite things! Which is why I’ve always loved the quote from the movie “You’ve Got Mail”. Joe Fox says to Kathleen Kelly, “Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”
There’s nothing like school supplies to make you think of teachers. So I decided I would make a bouquet of pencils as a teacher gift.
I cut 2×2 in squares out of several papers from the Lovely Day collection. Then, using my digital die cutter, I cut out flowers in various sizes. I made sure to leave a hole in the middle so the flowers would easily slide down onto the pencil erasers. Quick and simple!
Once the flowers were assembled, I decorated the little tin I picked up. I adhered patterned paper to the outside, then added a bit of washi tape around the edge for decoration. Once that was done, I inserted a bit of styrofoam and arranged the pencils into a bouquet. To finish, I dropped in some fake grass (left over from Easter!).
There are only two embellishments on this project, because basically it’s just one big embellishment! I added one of the layered flags and created a tag to hand off one of the pencils. I included a little note on it that said “thank you for helping me grow.”
I loved putting this together! It was simple and fun and so very festive.
