Hello friends! It's Leigh here to share a new layout made with the brand new Wildflower and Honey collection by Vicki Boutin! Vicki’s new collection is filled with rich jewel tones and sunset-kissed colors. I love the feel of the collection! The geometric patterns make great backgrounds!
I love the floral images with black outlines included in this line. They seem perfect for a layout about when my daughter and I got tattoos together! This is a very special memory, and had to be commemorated right away before I forgot the details of this day. Some of the ephemera pieces have a geometric pattern that resembles a dream catcher. I used the pieces that coordinate with our tattoos to create this layout.
I added two areas of Vicki Boutin White Gesso through the honeycomb stencil. I fussy-cut the floral images from the “Blossom” Patterned Paper. I added them to opposite corners of the background paper, called "Full Bloom”. There are rich and interesting textures already printed on the Full Bloom Paper! The deep teal and sunset orange colors coordinate with the photo perfectly!
At the bottom right, I added the smaller grouping of fussy-cut florals. Before adhering anything, I added my mixed media gesso in the specific area of the bottom right corner, so that it appears to be peeking out from the florals. I like to use mixed media this way, as a design element to create unity on the page. I think the white gesso adds a light layer for the florals to stand out against.
After the gesso dried, I added lots of layers for the photo and journal card to rest on. The paper strips from the ephemera embellishment pack add a horizontal line to ground the photo and the journal card. The tassel banner chipboard pieces give a bohemian feel that coordinates with the photo. For dimension, I added lots of foam tabs under the different layers. Some of the chipboard Thickers have a pretty gold metallic accent, so I added those around the layout. I hand stitched with gold thread and the We R Memory Keepers Happy Stitch Pen. The title is layered over the gesso near the bottom right of the page as well.
I hope you get the chance to play with these new supplies from the Wildflower and Honey collection! There are delicious and rich colors to use for all your paper crafting adventures! Thank you for joining me today, and happy crafting!
