Twilight Week: An Outdoor Layout

Hello there! It’s Meghann with you today, and after an exciting month of new collection announcements, it’s so exciting to have all of this beautiful, new product on my desk! I had the pleasure of creating with the newest collaboration with 1Canoe2, Twilight, and I couldn’t love this collection more!

This beautiful collection includes beautiful feminine touches, while still retaining the natural feel of 1Canoe2’s illustrations. While flipping through the patterned papers, I was instantly reminded of a photo of myself on a favorite hike, and I decided to document my love for being on the trail.

Once I selected my background patterned paper, the embellishment that I selected first was the “feels like home” heart sticker from the cardstock stickers. I wanted to create a grid of hearts on the right side of my photo, so I decided to rub baby powder on the back of the sticker, covering the adhesive, so that I could use it as a template to create three additional stickers from patterned paper, which I cut out by hand.  I emphasized this grid with a grid of thin washi tape and sewn lines under my hearts.

To offset the weight of the hearts on the right side of my photo, I added the “incandescently happy” card, cut from the Feels Like Home patterned paper. It was the perfect sentiment for what I wanted to document on this layout! Above and below the card, I stamped leaves using the acrylic stamp and gold ink pad, and added die-cut leaves on top.

My journaling was typed onto a die-cut card from the ephemera cardstock die-cuts and hidden behind my photo. A paper flag clip attached to it to make it easier to slide out. The lovely new rotary stamp from this collection make adding the date neat and simple at the top of the journaling tag.

On top of the hearts, I added small embellishments from the ephemera cardstock die-cuts, wood and epoxy buttons, and cardstock stickers. They added the perfect touches to emphasize my layout’s natural feel and my love for the outdoors.

My title was placed below my photo and heart grid, and was created with a mix of the “home” die-cut from the ephemera cardstock die-cuts, and the beautiful new Hazel Thickers. I love their font and neutral color that didn’t add any contrast to the background patterned paper.

You can see my layout coming together in this short process video. Pull up a cozy chair and take a look!

The beautiful Twilight collection is perfect for documenting what you love—whether it’s outdoors or in, and I can’t wait to create my next project with it!
