Tips on Creating Card Multiples with Meghann Andrew

Hello! It’s Meghann Andrew here with you today. There is nothing better than giving something handmade to someone you care about. What if I told you that American Crafts has come up with a new product that helped you do that in a quick and easy way—in multiples!? The brand new Cardmaking Sticker Books are designed to help you create beautiful card designs in groups so that you can knock out a series of cards in one crafting session! In just a few minutes, I created 8 lovely, handmade cards using three Cardmaking Sticker Books, which are grouped by different occasions.

AmericanCrafts_MeghannAndrew_CardmakingSticker_01ACFor this session, I grabbed the birthday, holiday and thanks sticker books. What I love about these is that you can create your cards as simply, by just using the stickers and cardstock, or as ornately as you would like, by adding a bit more embellishment. Today I’m going to give you some tips on what products to add to your Sticker Book cards to help you come up with one fabulous design and re-create it multiple times.

These special birthday wishes started on plain cardstock, which I stamped using the Head in the Clouds cloud stamp three times. Stamps are perfect for creating card multiples as you can use them again and again! I added the balloon stickers to plain cardstock, fussy cutting around the outside edge, as well as inside the balloons so that I could give them some extra lift with dimensional adhesive when I adhered them to the card front. This is a great technique to use when you want some added dimension to your card fronts. I placed the colorful “birthday wishes” sentiment below, and finished the card off with three rhinestones, which come in a large pack of all the same size and shape embellishments. It’s the perfect small addition when creating multiple cards at once!

Christmas is on the way, and I know that you’ll have a lot of cards to make! On these cards, I started with a stencil from the Vicki Boutin Field Notes collection. This simple dotted circle is perfect for any kind of salutation, and just like with stamps, stencils can be used again and again to create card multipes. I filled in my stencils with gold CreativeFX, and before they dried, added chunky gold glitter to really make them sparkle! While my backgrounds were drying, I added the sentiment banners (of which there are so many in this sticker book!) to plain cardstock and fussy-cut around them, allowing me to be able to adhere them using dimensional adhesive. I slid white ribbon, another perfect product for creating multiples, underneath the sentiment banner and tied a bow. To finish off my card, I added some holly springs around my sentiment and red rhinestones in place of the holly berries. Simple, sweet and perfect for creating in large batches!

My final card is the easiest to create, and probably my favorite! I just love those glittery “thank you” hearts and, once again, I adhered them to plain cardstock, fussy cut around them and lifted them with dimensional adhesive—but not before adding some washi tape strips to my card background. Washi is a fun and inexpensive product to use when creating multipes! When was the last time you actually finished a roll of washi tape? To the bottom corner of the sentiment heart, I added a simple flower sticker directly onto the patterned paper background. Easy, beautiful and I now have three “thank you” cards at the ready when I need to send a note of thanks!
