Hello, it’s Lucile! Today I will be showing off my first project using the Sparkle City collection by Shimelle! I decided to use this collection to document a recent trip I took to the United States! I created a box to store an album and all the little things that I brought back from Los Angeles. I decided to make the box into a little suitcase to keep the travel theme going.
To make the suitcase, I took an old box that I no longer use and cut it open like a book. I covered it with paper from the collection. I decorated the front of the suitcase with a cityscape and added "Los Angeles." I created a handle to make my suitcase more realistic. Last but not least, I added two straps around the entire thing to keep it closed.
Inside the box, I created a compartment to store the album and added a little pocket to the lid. The interior is covered with a variety of paper patterns!
I made sure that the pocket was attached really well so that it can hold plenty of things. I decorated the pocket with die cuts and a word. I placed cards and labels in the pocket. I will also use it to add photos and flyers that I brought back from my trip.
I made my mini album with cardboard and an accordion binding. Next, I covered my album with card stock that matches the inside of the suitcase. I decorated the cover with a special card from the die cuts in the collection, and I am obsessed with the effect! In a paper, I cut the word "dream" and pasted it in relief. I also added a strap to keep the album shut.
On the edge of the album I added the year I took the trip! I hope this project inspired you to document your past or future travels! The Sparkle City collection is STUNNING and goes perfectly with a travel theme. See you next time!
