Spring Has Sprung Cards

Hooray! Spring is finally here! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today, and now that spring has finally sprung, I’m in the mood to brighten up my world a bit: in my clothing choices, home décor, and paper crafting projects! Today I’m with you to share two cards I made using the beautiful floral and sun-shiny Stay Colorful collection—the perfect choice for any spring project!

When it comes to cards, I like to keep things sweet and simple: adding layers and different textures with plenty of white space is the key to create a successful card design. Using items from the same collection is always a great idea to ensure that your colors match, and the Stay Colorful collection is so easy to create cards with in just minutes!

The first card I created, “Hip Hip Hooray,” had more of a masculine color scheme, but still fresh and spring-like by using the beautiful tiny floral print from the 6” x 6” paper pad, as well as the teal polka dot. I used my sewing machine to attach these two patterns to the white cardstock card front, to add some texture. Along the seam, I added the “hip hip hooray” tag with yellow baker’s twine, adding the beautiful glitter resin star above.

To balance out the heaviness of the resin star at the bottom of the card, I added the “celebrate” sticker from the washi tape book and a cardstock heart sticker. I love that this card can be sent for any type of occasion—from an engagement to a birthday!

The next card I created is a bit more feminine with flowers on top of flowers. It doesn’t get more spring-like than this! I adhered a piece of the floral pattern from the 6” x 6” paper pad to my card front, again using my sewing machine around the perimeter for texture. In the center of the card I added the “good things are coming” chipboard at an angle. I love this sentiment—I can see myself sending this card for anything from a wedding announcement to a new baby.

Below the sentiment, I added a floral die-cut, and added another layer below that with the gold pennant coming out from the left side. To balance it, I adhered the foiled cardstock sticker butterfly to the upper right corner of the sentiment. A cardstock gold asterisk and a Glitter Girl collection enamel heart finished off the card, which didn’t need much embellishment at all.

No matter what the weather outside, spring is still here! Be sure to add some of this beautiful season to your next card creation, using the Stay Colorful collection! Thanks for stopping by!
