Quick Tips: How to Organize Your Scrapbook Supplies

Hello American Crafts fans! Leigh here, sharing my craft supply organization tips with you today! Since I am on three design teams, I have a tremendous amount of product. Keeping it organized is the key to creating 17 creative projects each month!

Lots of embellishments come in waterfall packages and flat plastic overwrap. I will share some tips for organizing this type of packaging. My projects generally stay within one collection, but I will share how I store collections together.

I built this pegboard for my craft room, and it always holds the newest collections. Keeping product on hooks allows me to see everything that I have. That way, I can see everything that I am running low on easily. I often rotate product by taking it off of the pegboard to display the newest collections. QUICK TIP: I saw someone in the crafting community post that they open the side of the plastic with scissors, so that the bottom can stay closed. I do this for most of the packages on this pegboard.

I have Crate Paper's "Sunny Days" and Pink Paisley's "Horizon" collections displayed now, since we are entering the summer season. I leave room between each product so that I can take it off the peg, and also see the different embellishment options for each line of product. I keep different sizes of paper close to the embellishments as well. I also use scrap wood or leftover packaging (like the chipboard backing from paper pads) as makeshift shelves!

Once the collections have been taken off the pegboard, I add them to 12×12 plastic drawers like this. I keep all the products for each collection together in one drawer. This way, I can remove the entire drawer and bring it to my desk surface to create. The plastic drawers are lightweight and portable. I get multiple sets of drawers for each season and add more as I receive new releases. The drawers can be stored under your desk for quick retrieval. I am always excited about getting new collections and hand-lettering the labels for each season.

These drawers can hold quite a bit of product. Since they are 12×12, the paper can stay in with the embellishments. TIP: If the plastic packaging starts to tear from use, I add the embellishments to small sandwich size bags.

Thank you for joining me today, and happy organizing! Leigh.
