Quick and Easy Holiday Cards

Hello Everyone! Terhi here again with another inspiring way to approach the upcoming Holiday season. True or false: You should always stick on Holiday themed collections for your Holiday crafts. False? That’s what I said! And that’s exactly why I like to challenge it and show you how easy it is to make any line look like it’s made for Holiday crafts.

I created a bunch of mini sized Christmas cards to send via mail or use as a gift tag. The cards are made with Shimelle’s Field Trip line. At first glance, Field Trip does not seem like a holiday themed collection at all. Field Trip is a collection that features all things learning and discovery.

The idea behind the cards is simple and inspired by the Field Trip specialty paper. The specialty paper is a color wheel. I cut it into slices and then added a backing card stock. Here comes the secret. To make the slices match more for the upcoming season, I used only one color on each card. Using a monochromatic color scheme gave me an opportunity to focus more on the greeting.

The second secret is the shape of the embellishments next to the greeting. Each season or occasion has at least one recognizable symbol. For example, a holiday star! As you can see, I layered stars to decorate the cards and used a variety of products instead of a variety of colors.

The last secret is the length, size and type of the greeting. The blue card will show this idea the best. Your attention will focus on the “25th” before anything else on the card. The 25th is very strongly connected to Christmas in our thoughts, as are the stars next to it.

These three ideas will work great in any shape of cards. Try creating circle, triangle or star shaped cards instead of the traditional rectangle. I’d love to see your projects so please don’t hesitate to tag me when you’re sharing them on social media!
