Patriotic Home Decor

Happy birthday America! Let’s celebrate the most patriotic time year with a home decor piece you can craft in under an hour. I keep an open frame in my craft room that changes with the holidays and seasons. I place a new little piece of homemade goodness with removable tape and when the next holidays rolls around it’s easy to remove and replace. Let’s have some fun with a red, white and blue theme this time around!

To create the frame insert, begin by cutting down a sheet of white cardstock to 5×7.  Use a word processing program and space the lines of the Pledge of Allegiance with two inch spaces in between.

Next, I used an electronic die cut machine to cut out 1-1/2” hearts out of three different patterned papers. I chose a large navy stripe, subtle light blue print and a tiny red flower print. The contrast in patterns is important to keep the design balanced. Place the hearts in between the lines of text in a repeating pattern.

All of the red hearts are backed with Sticky Thumb pop dots for a little bit of dimension. A handful of red puffy heart stickers scattered throughout give the design a bit of movement. Add some removable, double-sided tape to the back of the insert and pop into the center of a frame. And there you have it – a simple, patriotic pledge for your home!
