Hey crafty friends, it’s Elsie here with a couple of Mother’s Day cards to share with you! I have always made my Mum cards ever since I was small, because it’s nice to be able to personalise her cards, and give her something unique and special, just like she is!
I used the 1Canoe2 Twilight collection to create my cards, because I love the pale blue and coral colour combination in this collection, as well as the painterly flowers. And more importantly, I knew my Mum would really love it too – it’s just her style!
My Mum loves “wordy” cards, so anything that has a sappy or emotional sentiment turns the waterworks on – haha! So for my first card I chose to create a card (which I have actually given my Mum) that uses a cut file which reads: ‘first my mother, forever my friend’ and I backed each word with papers from the collection.
I love adding a bit of stitching to my cards, as it makes them look handmade and unique. So I machine-stitched around the edge of the front panel and adhered it onto the slightly bigger card base with some fun foam.
I added a few clusters of embellishments around the edge of the card to draw the eye into the sentiment. As always with 1Canoe2, the flowers are beautiful, and they really don’t need much more added to them.
For the second card I was also inspired by the flowers; this time by the large die-cut florals in the ephemera pack. I loved the idea of creating a very layered card with the florals, so I used a mason jar box card cut file as the base of my card.
On each layer of the card I attached some of the florals. To create the look of a full and blooming bouquet of flowers I made sure that the larger flowers were at the back and the smaller ones towards the front.
I used one of the specialty papers from the 12×12 paper pad to create the front of my mason jar because I love the subtle shimmer and shine it adds. I love the mix of both gold and pink foiling in that paper pad, it compliments the collection so well.
To embellish the front of the card I kept it simple. I used the coordinating thickers to write ‘mom’ and used one of the phrase stickers from the 6×12 sheet which says ‘love you’. Simple, but meaningful.
Thanks for stopping by today friends, and I hope you’ve got some Mother’s Day card inspiration!
