Hi friends! I am so glad to be joining you today with a mixed media mini album using the new clear plastic sheets and the DIY Shop Canvas Album, to create a mixed media mini! Most of the supplies are from the Vicki Boutin Field Notes line, and I hope you get some ideas on how to incorporate mixed media into your next mini album.
For the cover, I used the packaging from the Vicki Boutin White Foundations Mixed Media Art Paper pack. I cut the acetate to 6×6 and placed the pre-printed watercolor area at the bottom of the cover. I pierced holes around three circles and stitched with crochet thread to highlight the stenciling you can see on the page underneath. The foam Thickers are used to create the title also within the stenciled circle.
I gessoed all the canvas album pages with Vicki Boutin White Gesso, and let them dry the day before, so they would be ready to get painty with some mixed media. I used the new Moxy Glitter Glue to create some glittered dots around this canvas page that holds the subtitle for this book of the best moments of 2018.
I used my iPad Pro to paint the horse and printed her on tissue paper. Then, I adhered her to the canvas page with Vicki Boutin Matte Acrylic Gel. She looks painted on, and I think she symbolizes freedom, the theme of the two pages shown here. I added a floral crown with the VB Watercolor Stickers and small punched leaves. The vellum pocket holds two photos and three tags.
Here is a look at the back side of the vellum pocket, with the second photo and tags taken out so you can see them better. The right-side page is hand-lettered with the new Kelly Creates White Brush Pens, on the clear plastic sheet. The white brush pens are from the newest Kelly Creates release. They write really well, even on the glossy surface of the plastic.
A large 5.5 x 5.5 photo on the left is balanced with the layers on the right. I stamped another clear sheet with Vicki Boutin Field Notes stamps and her paint. Make sure to wash off paint as soon as you are done stamping, and your stamps will stay just like new. The layer beneath the transparency is a painted canvas page, stamped with VB pigment inks and stamps. I hand-painted the squares of blue with VB paints in three shades of blue.
My Mom and I in Paris, had to have a sequin shaker pocket. I have never been to Europe before in my life, so I wanted to create a special page to savor the moment Mom and I had lunch in the Eiffel Tower! I added a small photo of us to the left, onto a punched circle, and added a Field Notes Chipboard title. The sequin pocket was inspired by Paige Evans, and I used the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool to create the sections to hold the Vicki Boutin Mica Flakes from her Mixology Glitter Set in both gold and silver.
The right page has Vicki Boutin gold paste through a Field Notes Stencil, to carry the gold color over to this side of the spread. I love the color of this gold paste, ad that the mica flakes are the dame metallic gold.
My daughter in Spain, and I added several embellishments from the Field Notes line to this large photo. The pink and yellow pigment ink can be blended on the stamps, then stamped onto vellum and heat set with clear embossing powder. I used light yellow, dark yellow, and pink pigment inks to create an ink-blending technique on the right, then went over it with VB White Gesso through a Field Notes stencil to create the moths layer. I popped a Filed Notes Die Cut up over the Thickers title.
