Hello! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today, and thanks for stopping by the American Crafts blog! The change in seasons brings with it my desire to switch things up a bit in my documenting, too. Using deeper colors, wood grain and plaid patterns, and documenting home is in my crafty M.O. during the month of October, and I love that the new American Crafts collections provide all of the product that I need to create beautiful autumnal layouts. The new 8-1/2” x 11” layout that I’m sharing with you today uses the brand new Kelly Creates stamps with the gorgeous Goldenrod collection in such a seamless way, you’d think they were meant for each other!
By combining my love of stamping with all of the lovely elements from the Goldenrod collection, I highlighted two favorite photos from the beginning of our autumn last year, when we picked the first squashes of the season. The Kelly Creates floral stamps provided the perfect curtain of leaves at the top of my layout, which I stamped with permanent ink and colored using the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media watercolor set and watercolor brushes. The dark frame provided by the b-side of the Sweet Strawberries paper added enough weight to the background to support the heavy weight at the top, and also included texture from its own leaf pattern!
Below my leaves, I added my 2” x 3” photos in a row along with the small cut-apart card from the Goldenrod 6” x 6” paper pad that says, “these are the days we dream about, when the sunlight paints us gold.” I thought that this card was perfect for the way that the setting sun lit up the tree behind my daughter in beautiful gold hues.
I had to provide some weight underneath my photo, so I added a row of the dark blue pattern of the Sweet Strawberries paper again, which provided a resting place from all of the heavy texture and pattern, and gave me the perfect place to add my title, “lovely day.” I also stamped, watercolored and fussy-cut two more leaves to add to this title block. Below it, I wanted to add a few more layers, so adhered the gold manufacturer’s strip of from the Sweet Strawberries paper, and the lovely thin washi tape to add a bit of metallic sparkle. The “making memories” Goldenrod cardstock sticker below added some color contrast, with the beautiful rust color popping out below the title, and my journaling was added below in typed strips.
The last step in my layout creation was to add the same kind of sparkle that I found in the sunset on the evening that my photos were taken. I grabbed the perfect, mess-free Moxy glitter glue, and started highlighting some of the leaves at the top of my layout, as well as the fussy-cut leaves at my title. A few heart stickers from the Goldenrod cardstock, chipboard and puffy stickers finished off this page perfectly, and meant that I could file this perfect autumn evening into my album.
Thanks so much for joining me here today! Be sure to grab the beautiful Goldenrod collection, as well as the Kelly Creates floral stamp to document your most perfect autumn memory in a beautiful way!
