Hello friends! Today, I have created my first layout using the new collection Color Kaleidoscope by Vicki Boutin! I love this collection, it is very colorful and includes so many fun elements. This month, while on vacation in Los Angeles, I had the chance to go to the Creativation show. I met some talented designers, including Vicki Boutin. What's better than a photo with her for this layout?
I decided to go all out with color for this layout. I started by making a band on the left of my layout. I actually only used two sheets of paper for this! I created a watercolor effect with strips of multicolored paper. Then, I sewed over them and folded the edges for added volume.
Next, I matted my photo with a purple paper to add contrast with the white background. I used 3D foam squares to get the photo to stay. I rarely scrapbook big photos, so it was a first for me.
After, I decorated around my photo. For that, I used dies cuts and stickers from the Color Kaleidoscope collection. I started by creating a composition of flowers on the left of my photo. I made sure the colors of my flowers matched the color in the background. I also used a few flowers on the other side of the photo for added balance.
I felt like my layout was missing volume. To add this effect, I sewed butterfly and heart die cuts to the page down the center, and bent up the wings and edges. I love this effect, I use it often in my layouts.
Last, I decorated the bottom of my page with the finishing details. I used word stickers and die cuts. I attached the brush die cut with 3D stickers again to add some dimension.
I hope you love this layout using Vicki Boutin's Color Kaleidoscope collection as much as I have. I'll see you soon with a new project!
