Hello crafty friends! Leigh here, with a layout inspired by the unicorn card in the Greeting Card Value Pack set. The cards have clean and colorful graphic designs, so they were the perfect jumping off point to inspire my page. My color scheme started with the pink and aqua from the unicorn card, and I added magenta, cobalt, and turquoise to coordinate with the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful line. The card also serves as the title for the page.
The unicorn dreamcatcher is the focal point of the card, so the photo, journaling spot, and title were placed in close proximity to the center. You can create custom flowers to match your project with the Kelly Creates Aqua Brush Set, like I did for the flowers at the top near the unicorn horn. I drew feathers in pencil, and fussy cut them out of the Dear Lizzy patterns, and snipped fringe along each one with detail scissors. I also drew the ears freehand and the unicorn horn.
To make the dreamcatcher, I cut five card stock circles at 6.5 inches and at 6.25 inches to create a ring. Then I stacked them and used a liquid glue to hold each layer. I wrapped American Crafts twine around the entire ring until it was covered, and glued the ends and several spots on the back. Pinterest is loaded with images of unicorn crafts from Easter eggs to cross stitch crafts to inspire your next project.
The Kelly Creates Aqua Brush set and the Vicki Boutin water brush, made it easy to get a variation in the colors on the flowers, and I was able to blend magenta, blue, and turquoise on the flowers by waiting for each color to dry slightly before starting the next color. I was able to coordinate the flowers with the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful line, and some of the Shimelle Glitter Girl line as well. The glittered flowers took the color just as well, and I simply colored right over them with the Aqua Brush Pens.
Dear Lizzy clothespins hold the photo, journaling spot, and a punched unicorn from the Shimelle Glitter Girl Project Pad. The Kelly Creates Aqua Brushes were used as a watercolor for the mixed media behind the photo area to bridge the gap between the title and the photo.
