Documenting Motherhood

It’s time to celebrate the Moms! Documenting your thoughts and stories about this journey we call motherhood is a great topic for your scrapbook. Here I started with the story. It’s a journal entry that reflects on some of the things that I’ve learned about being a mom in the past decade. I wanted to create a layout with beautiful colors and a bit of whimsy. Hello – Lovely Day and Little by Little collections with their perfect blend of beautiful pastels and feminine touches!

MomLayout

To create the page I started with white cardstock. Next, I cut strips of paper from the Lovely Day and Little by Little collections. A perfect row of trees, bold yellow strips and some polka dots create a beautiful border at the top of the design.

A strip of white cardstock at the top is a great spot to add texture. By layering foam Thickers, chipboard, stickers and a flag a punch of something special is added to the top of the design.

MomPhotoLayers

To balance out all of the pattern and embellishments at the top, a bed of layers is create just under the photo to make it pop! Strips of patterned paper, chipboard heart, feather sticker and ticket die cut give that photo a little lift! The finishing touch is that beautiful gold flower paper clip from the Hazelwood collection topped with a wood enamel button.

And there you have it – a layout that is equal parts journal plus beautiful design. Creating borders with embellishments and patterned paper is a fun way to give your designs a little boost!
