Easy Personalized Father’s Day Gift

Dads sure are hard to buy for. If yours is anything like mine, he has two of everything! When it comes to Father’s Day, I like to make him something personal instead of buying him another shirt or tie. Today I’m here to show you how you can personalize a beautiful Details 2 Enjoy frame to give to your Dad this Father’s Day!

All it took to create this personalized frame were two Details 2 Enjoy kits and a few embellishments. Let me show you what I did to create it!

I started with the Do It Yourself Pocket Frame, which I painted in black. I love these frames because you can switch out the inside panel over and over again to create something new. Next, I knew I had to use the awesome Do It Yourself Truck Kit. My dad is a lover of antiques and old things, so this truck was the perfect addition. Next, it needed a great background to help the truck to stand out. That’s when I grabbed the Details 2 Enjoy Background Pad, and selected the dark woodgrain pattern to add to my frame insert using Sticky Thumb double-sided super sticky red tape. The dark color and texture added the perfect pop to help the truck stand out against the background.

This is where the personalization started to come in! I grabbed the beautiful Saturday Afternoon collection to help me to add some color to the frame, starting with the card stock sticker banner. I loved the navy, yellow, orange and green colors that it added, and the white border helped it to stand out against the woodgrain background. To the right, I added a plain clothespin topped with the Saturday Afternoon wood veneer “enjoy this” piece, which I dry-brushed with gesso, to help the sentiment to stand out. After taping the clip to the background, I clipped my square, black and white photo and two banners cut from the Saturday Afternoon 6” x 8” paper pad for some color.

The pickup truck needed some personalization, too, and given that my Dad is an avid gardener, I grabbed a die cut leaf from the Saturday Afternoon die cut shapes and paired it with the felt leaves from the Do It Yourself Truck Kit to add to the bed of the truck. The green galoshes from the Saturday Afternoon cards tock stickers were the perfect addition to sit on the ground next to the truck. To add one more bit of color to the bottom of the frame, I topped a Saturday Afternoon die cut label with the yellow patterned paper and added “DAD” using the It’s All Good puffy alphabet stickers. I love that it looks like a license plate on the bumper of the truck!
