Wildflower & Honey Project Inspiration

Hello AC friends! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today! It's such an exciting time with all the new AC collections being revealed. What's even more exciting is the opportunity to create with them! Today I'm here to share my first layout using the new Vicki Boutin Wildflower and Honey collection—a gorgeous, rich, and versatile range of products that makes me want to sit down and create.

The beautiful hues in this collection reminded me of fall memories, and I pulled out photos that fit the collection beautifully from a girl’s trip to New Orleans. The eclectic and vintage themes in this collection fit our trip perfectly. The best part about Wildflower and Honey is that you can document absolutely anything with it—it’s completely versatile for any range of memories. I pulled out products about travel and good times and began to create!

I started my layout with the painterly striped Happy Spirit paper. This paper was too bold for me to use in full on this page, so I cut some of the stripes off of the full sheet. Not only did this section provide bold swaths of color, but it also leads your eye directly to my photo. Backing it with an 8-1/2” x 11” sheet of white card stock helped to give me the white space and contrast that it needed.

I just could not fit as much as I wanted to on an 8-1/2” x 11” layout, so to make it a full 12” x 12” page, I layered my white card stock sheet onto the multi-colored Queen Bee hexagon paper. This is definitely one of my favorite patterns in the collection! Before adhering, I sewed around the edges of my white card stock to add texture and to help it stand out.

This is where the fun started. I wanted to make the harsh line on the right side between my white card stock and the Queen Bee patterned paper disappear, so I began embellishing along that boundary. I started out with the new Wildflower and Honey wildflower stamp and die set, and added the hexagon design in a honey-colored ink at the top corner. Next, I added two other places around my photo to create a visual triangle.

Once my sewing and stamping was complete, it was time to add layers! With so many amazing embellishments in this collection, this was an easy task! Sliding my journaling card from the journaling and frames ephemera pack in the junction between my photos was the first step. Next, I worked in a backwards “L” shape along the edge of my photos to layer die cuts, chipboard and stickers. The “go, see, do” chipboard sticker is my favorite embellishment on the page, and was perfect to document this day!

I love this page design because it gives me the perfect balance of white space while still showing off those gorgeous Wildflower and Honey patterns! I hope you’ve been inspired to document your best days in a bold and colorful way with Wildflower and Honey. Thanks for reading!
