Hello everyone! It’s Zinia and for the next week the American Crafts design team and I are going to share with you some fun Easter-themed projects.
I really love holiday decorations that give a special festive air in the room but at the same time I feel sad when my cute decorations are on display just a few weeks a year. So I’m always super thrilled to create DIY decorations that can work on multiple occasions depending on how you set them.
So although bunnies and eggs are the definition of Easter décor, if you isolate them we can use the bunnies all year round and turn them into Ester-themed pieces when we pair them with some colorful eggs. With all that in mind, today I want to share with you some adorable bunny baskets for your Easter eggs that you can continue using for the rest of the year as tiny organization bins in your craft room, cute decorations in your kid’s room, gift bags and so much more.
Now this origami technique is originally created with very thin paper. The problem with thin paper is that the finished result is not sturdy enough. So I’d recommend using your favorite sheets of pattern paper but be careful while you fold them cause they are not as flexible as thin paper and they can rip if you handle them roughly.
Here are some tips to make things easier for you:
- Use a bone folder to create crisp folds.
- Take your time and don’t rush through the steps.
- If you really feel insecure, train with a sheet of printer paper first so you won’t waste your precious pattern papers.
- The secret of a smooth folding process is to start with some good and crisp base fold marks.

Once your bunnies are ready you can fill them with some fluffy material or tissue paper so your eggs or other bits can sit comfortably in there. I actually though I’d try something different and filled one of my bunnies with colorful rubber bands. I have to say, it was my favorite!
