Hello friends! I love getting new art products, and the Vicki Boutin Watercolor Markers are no exception! The new Color Kaleidoscope Collection has pure, saturated colors to create all your paper craft projects with. I have so many ideas for the new markers, and I am sharing one idea to create three different greeting cards with you today.
All three cards feature the markers to create a simple watercolor mixed media background. You can add just a drop of the color from the marker to an acrylic block or transparency sheet, and add water with a Vicki Boutin Water brush, or paint directly onto the paper with the Watercolor Markers, and blend it out with the Water Brush, like I did for both striped card fronts.
So Fun: This card began with the watercolor painted stripes. I painted a stripe of color directly onto the card front with the Watercolor Marker, then used a Vicki Boutin Water Brush to add water and blend out each stripe. I dried each color with a heat tool, before painting on the next stripe. After the stripes were all dry, I stamped and heat embossed the white flowers using the new Color Kaleidoscope Stamp and Die Set. I cut the edge of the painted paper and the pink pattern free hand to create the wavy edge look.
You Are Kind: This card was ink-blended with the Vicki Boutin Color Wheel Pigment inks and the new stencil from Color Kaleidoscope first. Once the pigment ink was dry, I went back over it with a rainbow of colors from each of the Watercolor Markers and a water brush. Dry each color thoroughly before painting on the next color. I created the sweeping motion, like a rainbow, across the card front. A holographic heart and chipboard sentiment finish off the card.
Love You: I painted the stripes on this card in the same way as the “So Fun” card above. I painted a thin stripe directly onto the card front with the Watercolor Marker, and then blended it out with the Water Brush. Once all the stripes were dry, I splattered on clean water, to create the splatter effect. Dry up the water splatters with a dry paper towel after they have soaked into the paper for a bit. This will pick up the ink from the marker and create the watermarks. I cut three of the banners with the banner die from the Stamp and Die Set , and added the sentiment and holographic hearts to the card.
Thank you for visiting today, and I hope you get the chance to try out the new Color Kaleidoscope collection! It is beautiful!
