The new Amy Tangerine collection, Stay Sweet, is full of vibrant color and fun, summery themes, and I absolutely loved working with it. My favorite illustration in the entire collection is the avocado, which prompted me to document our family’s trip to Mexico last summer using three favorite photos and a splash of color!
With so many amazing patterned papers included in this collection, I decided to hand cut the word “Mexico” from several different patterns, but when I got to the “O,” I realized that I could not get it to look even by hand. That was when I saw the avocado die cut sitting on my desk, which made a perfect “O” at the end of the word!
Once I had my large title in place on my white cardstock background, I trimmed it so that I could frame it using the green Prickly Hug paper. I used the colors in my title to add splotches of color around the edge of my cardstock with the amazing Stay Sweet travel watercolor set. Using the water brush included in the set made it mess free and simple to add just a small amount of color. Plus, adding a tiny bit of paint made it easy for a novice painter like me to get the effect that I wanted.
After adhering my photos using dimensional adhesive, I needed to create a “shelf” to support them above my title. I cut the strip of colorful dots cut from the Hello Sweetness paper, and flanked that with two rows of washi tape, adding the copper metallic tape to the bottom for a bit of shine.
Embellishing was the easy part on this layout! There are so many die cuts and puffy stickers included in this collection that worked perfectly with our vacation photos. I added lime slices, a glass of lemonade, cameras and that fun fish around my page, then stamped three times using the fun rotary phrase stamp.
This wonderful collection created a page that I truly adore, about a fabulous and fun week with my family in Mexico, and the collection and our memories were a perfect match!
