Hello everyone! It’s Zinia here this week our team is focusing on the brand new Sunshine & Good Times collection by Amy Tangerine, bringing you inspiration and fresh ideas on how you can use it in your projects.
Amy’s collections always have a very unique style. There’s a bold graphic quality in every one of them so of course Sunshine & Good Times is no exception. As I was going through the products I really fell in love with the beautiful patterns that are included in this line so I really wanted to highlight them in my design.
The inspiration for this layout came from a poster I saw on Pinterest. It featured this fun and ingenious weaving technique that was perfect to keep the pattern papers in the spotlight as I wanted.
It’s a really fun twist to the usual paper weaving technique you see around from time to time. Instead of having two rows of paper strips you only get one. Then you cut a bunch of geometric shapes and you weave them through your row of strips. It’s really fun and addicting.
Although the collection is full of amazing colors I chose to only use a limited palette on this page since there were a lot of patterns involved and I didn’t want to make it look too busy.
I used a few stickers around my geometric shapes to compliment the design without adding too many distracting elements.
I really wanted to bring in some more purple so I grabbed my favorite color shine sprays and added some confetti of splatters all around the page.
I’m really thrilled with the way this page turned out. I believe it really represents the collection beautifully and it’s a really fun new technique to try out. If you enjoy the look of paper weaving this is definitely something you should try.
