Back-to-School with Poster Shop

Hello AC friends! If you have not checked out the latest offerings from the Poster Shop line, I would highly recommend that you take a look! The new, beautiful designs would create the perfect background for posters, photo backdrops, or another other BIG craft project that you’re working on! Since the start of school is just around the corner, I decided to use one of the newest and most colorful posters as the backdrop for a back-to-school documentation project.

I always love comparing my daughter’s growth from the beginning of the school year to the end—both physically and educationally. Using the colorful ____ poster and the Field Trip collection, which coordinated perfectly, I documented six important facts about my daughter that could change by the end of her first grade year.

This project only used one Poster Shop background, three pieces of patterned paper, a few colors of cardstock and a pack of the Field Notes ephemera to complete! I started off by cutting 4” letters from the composition notebook patterned Choose Adventure paper using the Bebas Neue font. I backed each letter with another letter cut from gray cardstock, which I offset to add a shadow-effect for dimension.

To separate the words “first” and “grade,” I adhered the alphabet ephemera piece, which I backed with a rectangle of Choose Adventure paper. I wanted the word “stats” to stand out from the striped background, so I adhered the ruler manufacturer’s strips from the Choose Adventure paper and the yellow stripe from the Going Up paper to highlight the word.

To hold the facts about my daughter for the start of the school year, I cut a single piece of the Between Classes paper into six 4” x 6” pieces, and printed the facts on the grid B-side using Photoshop and the Rough Typewriter font. I then backed each card with a 4.5” x 6.5” color of cardstock from the rainbow ______ pack, to help them stand out from the background.

After arranging my fact cards in a grid, I decided to embellish each card with educational ephemera from the Field Trip collection! From dinosaurs to astronauts, this fun pack added the perfect amount of whimsy and contrast to the poster.

I can’t wait to take the proper first day of school photos with this poster in the background to record my daughter’s “currents” and I hope that I’ve inspired you to pick up a new Poster Shop poster and the Field Trip collection to document the same for your kiddos! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
