Hello crafty friends! Leigh here, with a teacher gift idea using the Shimelle Box Of Crayons line. Do you need an easy DIY teacher gift with products you have on hand? Then try this simple and quick project with just three sheets of 12×12 paper. I thought it would be fun to use a different color scheme than the usual primary, and chose to use the pink floral and navy stripe.
A gift card holder, two candy bar wrappers, and some pencils, and paperclips are held in a mug for your teacher. You can wrap the finished gift with cellophane, but for photography purposes I left it unwrapped. I grabbed some coordinating Dollar Spot pencils to match my patterned paper on a recent trip.
Grab a mug from your favorite store, and choose two coordinating patterns from the Shimelle Box of Crayons line. Both sides of the paper used for the gift cardholder will show, so you can use this to coordinate the candy bar wrappers with the inside pattern, if you wish. Since the navy and turquoise stripe show on my sample, I chose the navy and turquoise script pattern for the candy.
For the gift card holder, trim your paper to 9 7/8 inches wide by 8 5/8 inches high. I followed a tutorial by Kristina Werner on You-tube here: https://youtu.be/ig_Qkm4kduQ
With the long side width-wise, fold in half and in half again. Unfold, and fold in the four corners to meet the second fold line (closest to the edge). Turn over, and fold the both sides to meet in the middle. Turn over, and tuck the top flap into the bottom and slip your gift card in the bottom section. I then added a paper flower from the new American Crafts Embellishments line, and a punches set of leaves tucked under the flower.
The candy wrappers were trimmed to the size of the candy bar to show the gold edge of the candy packaging. Then I used the candy bar to measure a score line to fold around and wrap the candy bar. The branding strip from the “Promise” paper was perfect to add to the wrapper as an accent. I added a smaller flower to each one and a smaller punched leaf from the “That’s The Spirit” paper.
You could fold over the gift card holder so the card doesn’t show and wrap it with a ribbon, but I loved the navy color too much to hide it!
Thank you for joining me today, and happy crafting!
