A Trio of Valentines by Meghann

Valentines Day is just around the corner, and before you head to your local store to pick up a mass-manufactured greeting card, check out the newest American Crafts collections to inspire you to create for someone you love! It’s Meghann Andrew here, and I’d love to share my latest Valentine’s Day cards with you!

AmericanCrafts_MeghannAndrew_Valentines_01WI grabbed three different of the newest collections—All the Good Things, Sunshine and Good Times and Stay Colorful—to create personal, customized cards for three special people in my life. Notice that none of them say “I love you.” You don’t have to focus on getting these words on the card front if the card says it for itself!

The first card that I created was for my best friend, and I chose the All the Good Things collection—she has quite a bohemian style, and this collection fit her personality perfectly! The “you are my favorite” die-cut from the ephemera cardstock die-cuts made the perfect greeting, and I sewed it to the Pretty Words patterned paper at the bottom, leaving the top open so that it looked like a pocket.

Next, I fussy-cut five butterflies from the Social Butterfly patterned paper, adhering them to the background so that they appeared to fly out of the pocket. A few enamel dots and a gold glitter Thicker heart finished off the card.

Next, I grabbed the new Amy Tangerine Sunshine and Good Times collection to create a Valentine for my trendy tween Goddaughter.  This collection is perfectly bright and colorful, with plenty of teen-friendly graphics. I loved the watercolor resist tags, and chose the sunglasses tag to add teal watercolor to, then once dry, backed it with the Love You bunches black patterned paper.

I added the pink banner sticker from the sticker book to white cardstock, cutting it out and adding the “you’ve got style” sticker to the top before adhering it to the watercolor tag. After adhering the Turn the Corner patterned paper to the card front, I threaded black and white twine twice through the card and tied the tag to the twine, adding a shoe sticker, also adhered onto white cardstock, dangling from the twine.  I know my Goddaughter will love this bright and cheerful card.

Finally, I grabbed another collection to create a fun and dreamy Valentine for my unicorn-loving daughter.

The scalloped Dream On and cut-apart Jive Talkin’ patterned papers made up my card front, setting the tone for this magical card. Over the scallops, I wrapped pink bakers twine twice before tying it in a knot and topping it with the daisy layered sticker.

Around it, I added cardstock and puffy hearts and a butterfly. There wasn’t much embellishment needed on this beautiful card that I know my daughter will be so excited to open on Valentine’s Day.
