Hey AC fans, it’s Elsie here with my first project using the brand new (and seriously gorgeous!) Shine On collection by Amy Tangerine. Patterned papers are always one of my favourite things in any collection, and for my first layout using new collections I always like to try and use as many patterns as possible!
I decided to create a quilt design for this page. This is a fun and easy design to create as it shows off all of the pretty patterned papers in a cute and organised way! To create this simple chevron design, I cut a 2x2inch square of paper which I diagonally cut in half to create two triangles, and I then cut those triangles in half, and half again.
I then arranged each triangle (of the same pattern) back-to-back to create a simple chevron row, and I did the same for all of the other patterned paper triangles.
I used paper agdhjasd to frame my quilted pattern and then hand-stitched around the embroidery hoop to add more texture and definition. I also machine stitched in the centre of each chevron row to create a more authentic quilted look. I love the way this turned out, it was fun to create design which showcased the patterns.
Another one of my favourite items in the Shine On collection is the suede flower embellishments. These come in some really lovely colours and would look amazing on their own, but they reminded me of flower stamens, so I thought I would create some 3D flower embellishments of my own.
I cut three layered flowers from a couple of the more simple grey patterned papers, so they would stand out against the quilt design. I glued the centres of each flower together and popped one of the suede embellishments into the centre of them to create these adorable flower decorations for my page.
Also to create some leaves I used the gold glitter washi tape. I stuck lots of strips next to each other on a scrap piece of paper to essentially create my own glitter cardstock. I then die-cut some leaves from that or used some scissors to create simple leaf shapes.
And finally, I used some of the inflated heart ephemera and heart puffy stickers as my finishing touches. I love the texture these add, and they’re small enough to add some lovely detail without making the overall design of the page too busy!
Thanks for joining me today, I hope you’re all inspired to create with this gorgeous collection!
