Hey everyone, it’s Elsie here sharing some fun slider Easter cards with you today! Although they take some time to make, I love cards that are interactive. The results are always fun and well worth the effort!
The method for creating these is really simple. All you need is some craft foam, foam dots and some cardstock and obviously a pretty collection to work with! I used the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful collection to create these cards as the pastel colours and cute images are perfect for Spring/Easter!
To start with you need to cut the pull tabs to the width you want, don’t worry about the length right now because you can always trim that later. Then you need to cut a piece of paper down to the size of your card and cut a channel out of it that is slightly smaller than the width of your pull tab.
Next I covered the back of my cardstock piece with some craft foam, but left enough space around the open channel for the pull tab to fit through. This step isn’t too necessary, but I did find that it made the slider mechanism a lot easier to use.
I used some pop dots to attach the design element I wanted to be able to move to the pull tab. I had to double up my foam dots to make sure the easter egg and rabbit on my cards moved smoothly!
To get a more professional look, I wanted to cover up the pull tab mechanism on both cards. On the Easter egg card I used one of the foiled cut-aparts from the 12×12 paper pad so when the top half of the egg is pulled up, you can see the fun hidden sentiment!
And for the bunny card I covered the slider mechanism with some patterned cardstock with a die-cut grass edge. I attached the bunny to some acetate so when the tab is pulled out the bunny also slides along and looks as if it’s hopping through the grass!
I also decorated each pull tab for some more cute details. For the egg card I used some of the cardstock stickers and for the bunny card I created some cute little carrots from some scraps of paper. I also attached one of the glitter clothespins to each tab. Not only do these look adorable and sparkly, they’re also functional as they make the tab a lot easier to pull in and out of the card!
One of my favourite items in Stay Colorful collection is the alpha stamp set. It was the perfect size to create my punny sentiments for both cards. On the bunny card I used some white embossing powder to emboss my ‘hoppy easter!’ sentiment, and on the egg card I used some black ink to stamp ‘hope you have a crackin’ easter!’ inside the card. This stamp set is so awesome, I’m getting so much use out of it!
Thanks for joining me today, peeps! I hope you’re inspired to create some fun and interactive slider cards this Easter!
