Hey friends, it's Terhi! I can't wait to share with you my project for today!
Today I’m here to inspire you with something you simply can’t send via email. A real letter! This isn't just a lined piece of paper, but a page with pockets full of crafty fun. I haven’t sent this to anyone yet, but I think I know who would enjoy receiving this, even more then I enjoyed creating it!
Before I start showing you how I made this pocket letter, I want to share how the idea came.
This week has been all about snail mails here at the American Crafts blog. I started out doing a card set with Dear Lizzy's "It's all Good" collection, but I just kept thinking about what else people send via mail. Bills for sure, but what else? I have been inspired by pocket letters on social media and decided that I was going to create my very first one!
Because of my lack of experience with pocket letters, I thought this simple pocket page would be great base to start with. It’s sized 6” x 8”, and all the pockets are sized 2” x 2”. I wanted to keep the color scheme pink and chose one of the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media backgrounds to start with. All other patterned papers and embellishments are from Dear Lizzy’s “It’s All Good” line.
First, I made the 2” x 2” cards, being sure to leave the colorful sides up. Then I took a strip of paper and folded it so that it would fit in the pockets. Actually, all three embellishment clusters are on top of something that can be opened. Paper clips are very handy with this!
After I finished the pop open cards, the rest was just embellishing! I did some fussy cutting and electronic cutting to bring out the beautiful patterns on the butterflies and other embellishments.
Last but definitely not least, I used my new favorite tool set called S.W.A.K. Wax Seal Kit to create the most beautiful seal for the center of one of the embellishments clusters. It was easy to use! All you do is gently light the wax stick (just like a candle) and drop the melted wax where you want the seal. Then, carefully blow out the wax stick. While the wax is still wet, push the wooden handle with the design of your choosing on it. Keep it in place for a moment and that’s it!
Hope you love this one! Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you soon again!
Terhi xx
