A Family Mini Album

Hello there! It’s Meghann Andrew and I am excited to be back on the AC blog with you today. Mini albums are one of my favorite project types to create, and when I’m short on creative time, yet have a lot of photos from a single event to document, I grab a favorite American Crafts collection and get to work to make something small, yet simple and beautiful. I chose to document photographs from a family photo shoot taken last year using the OneCanoeTwo Twilight collection, and I love the final result!

This small, eight-page hanging album is sized with its largest tag at 3” x 4”, yet it holds twelve 2” x 2” photos. The beautiful, natural setting of our photograph backgrounds made the Twilight collection a perfect fit, and I started out by using cut-apart tags from the Feels Like Home 12” x 12” patterned paper sheet as the base for my layout, then using those tags and banners as templates to add coordinating papers from the 6” x 6” paper pad.

After my photos were in place on my tags, I put them in an order that I liked and attached them with a binding ring from my stash. I began to add embellishments like stickers and diecut shapes which didn’t add too much bulk to my layout, but choosing just a few more dimensional embellishments, like this fun clothespin.  I also added items  that I could tie on to the binding ring itself, like the “love” and “home” wood veneer pieces.

On this page, I cut the words “and simple” from sweet to allow it to fit on the tiny page. Think about how you can make products work for your album by altering them slightly!

On the final page, I took the “feels like home” journaling card from the die-cut pack and added typed journaling about the day, dressing up the plain card back with washi tape, cardstock stickers and the beautiful gold foil rub-ons.

I loved creating this mini album with the beautiful Twilight collection, and the best part was that it only took about 30 minutes to create! You can see my entire process, as well as a flip-through of the completed album in the video below! Grab a cup of coffee and get inspired to start your own mini album today!
