Hello friends! It is time to celebrate our freedom again! I am so excited to share a brand new collection by Shimelle with you today. The new collection is called Filed Trip! It showcases so many great patterns that make it really easy to create any style paper craft. I went with a traditional red, white, and blue color scheme.
This layout features lots of patriotic colors! The light blue and a small dose of pink add a touch of the unexpected to this page. The tone-on-tone patterns from the B sides are really easy to create with! I added zig-zag machine stitching around the entire light blue ledger pattern. This creates a grounding spot for the rosettes and the photos.
The base of the layout uses the pattern "Out There”. Most of the rosettes were made from the striped pattern “After School”. I use multi-color stripes because when folded into the rosette shape, it creates multiple colors on one rosette. I tore the blue ledger pattern into an eight inch square. The rosettes at the top of the layout create a strong focal point, and add lots of dimension to the page.
The title is placed at the bottom left to balance the collage of photos on the right. The Field Trip ephemera die cuts are perfect for hand-written journaling. If you want to use more journaling, you can write on the blue ledger pattern. One great tip I learned from watching Shimelle and her Facebook Live videos is that the punched sparklers are made from an asterisk shape, and when you layer five or six of them, they resemble a sparkler firework!
I added an odd number of the rosettes and three punched stars. I punched the stars from the “Stay Curious” patterned paper. The glittery enamel dots are from Shimelle’s last collection, Sparkle City. The vintage camera ephemera is perfect for a traditional and nostalgic page about the Fourth of July! The photo collage showcases two 3×4 prints, made with Adobe Photoshop. I like to include multiple photos in this collage style because it creates a clean and streamlined look. I then added both of the prints to a white mat so they would stand out from the blue ledger paper. Do you have a favorite memory to document for the fourth of July? Share with us in the comments! Thank you for visiting today!
