3 Easy Techniques for Adding Glitter Accents to your Projects

Hey American Crafts friends, it’s Terhi here with a bunch of glittery Summer cards! This week, we are focusing on Summer crafts and I’m very honored to be starting the week.

I’ve had so much fun exploring different ways to add glitter to your cards or other projects without making them look too blazing or glorious. Fancy cards with glitter all over are surely great, but just not for my personal taste. That’s why I tried to think outside the box and came up with these three easy techniques.

I love stamping with embossing techniques, so I thought to make something similar, faster, and heatless. I picked up the brand new Moxy Glue Stamp Pad and started with glitter stamping.

This technique will work with any stamps! The pad must be coated smoothly with the glue, and then you can use it just like any regular stamp pad. I chose the loveliest Kelly Creates Bouncy Celebration and Floral Wreath stamps and nice purple paper from Stay Sweet collection to play with. While the glue is still a bit wet, you can add glitter on it and then gently shake the excess back to the jar.

The second technique is even easier. Using any paper available, cut a shape you want, press it to the Moxy Glue Stamp Pad and then dip it to glitter jar. Shake the loose glitter off, and you’ll have embellishment ready to go! You can do the cutting by hand, or step further to use punches, dies and electric cutting machines.

The third and last technique for today is something I have wanted to try out for a while, but just haven't had the chance to try it out yet. Now I finally realized I could use acetate paper on the background of a card and coat the edges of the sheet with glitter.

To make the edges perfectly straight I didn’t trust liquid glue, but instead added double sided tape to edges of the Stay Sweet Acetate Paper. Then I just gently added two different sized glitters on top and very quickly this neat frame was created. If you use two different sized glitters, add the bigger first, and then the smaller. This way you will completely fill the space with glitter.

After creating these cards, my head was filled with more and more ideas I think I need to try out! Adding glitter here and there in small sections is definitely something I’ll continue to do for my summer crafts. I hope you are inspired as much as I am!
